Iris in Vase

Finally a Before & After. I like batiks and decided to make a wallhanging. Probably started this about 5 years ago. As I am cleaning and rearranging, I keep finding these treasures. I'll have a whole wall of quilt pictures before I'm finished. If you enlarge the After picture, you'll see the sparkly thread I used. It didn't shred as I quilted it either. I like using my Janome with the metallic thread.

Pink Dahlia

I started this class in 2004 or so. I took a class with Barbara Olson at my guild. I liked the technique, but it was more intensive than I could manage. I ended up just fusing the petals and added a background and borders. I like the black and white border. It gives a nice detail. After a bit of quilting, it is now ready to hang. But where???

Forgotten treasure

When I posted pictures of my sewing space, I neglected to post my prized possession. My library catalog, aka thread, bobbins, ribbons, sewing notions, and all around catcher of stuff. I worked in a library and when we went online, they were getting rid of the old card catalog. I had just the place for one of those beauties. It is solid oak. I now wish I would have gotten more of them. But it's a nice addition to my room. It would even look nice in a living room. It functions nicely in the sewing area.

Asian circles

Just finished a wallhanging that I like. I call it Asian Circles. My neighbor made an entire quilt using this technique. I sewed fabric onto coffee filters in a circle, any size you like, cut out the center of the filter, leaving a 1/4" or so. Turned it right side out and presto, a perfect circle of georgeous fabric. Sewed that onto a HST. Put a few borders, batting and backing and I'm done. Couldn't be simpler. Looks nice in a hallway.
